Add the milk. Cook over medium low heat in a large, heavy pan. Stir frequently. The liquid will become lumpy and the whey will separate out. This process usually takes around 1 - 2 hours. Line a colander with 2 or 3 layers of cheesecloth. Pour the cooked cheese into the colander, gather up the cheesecloth, and tie to form a ball. Hand and let drip for a couple of hours, then refrigerate. Serve sliced. This is a traditional Pascha treat from the Carpathian Mountains in what is now Slovakia.
